Trama Philomena

Inghilterra, primi anni Cinquanta. Philomena Lee è ancora adolescente quando scopre di aspettare un bambino e viene mandata dalla sua famiglia in un convento dove si trovano altre coetanee nella medesima situazione. Quando suo figlio Anthony coppie tre anni le viene strappato con la forza e affidato a una coppia di americani. Philomena cerca di scoprire dove sia finito senza successo, e trascorre un sacco di tempo fino a quando non incontra il giornalista Martin Sixmith, che prende a cuore il suo caso e la spinge a partire per gli Stati Uniti con l'obiettivo di ritrovare finalmente Anthony.
