Trama Moonrise Kingdom - Una fuga d'amore

Estate 1965. La dodicenne Suzy vive insieme ai genitori su un'isola del New England, dove ha al momento luogo un campeggio scout al quale partecipa anche il coetaneo Sam. I due si incontrano per puro caso e, venendo entrambi da situazioni familiari difficili - lei è incompresa dai suoi, lui è un orfano affidato ad una coppia - entrano subito in sintonia e si innamorano. I due ragazzini decidono così di allontanarsi da tutto e tutti seguendo un percorso che risale addirittura ai tempi dei nativi locali. Nel frattempo però le ricerche sono partite in una corsa contro il tempo per ritrovarli prima dell'arrivo di un'imminente tempesta.
