Trama Coma profondo

Susan Wheeler lavora come medico chirurgo al Boston Memorial Hospital, tra gli ospedali più moderni e rinomati del Paese. La donna ha una relazione con il collega Mark Bellows, anche se le loro liti sono frequenti e portano ad altrettanto brevi rotture. Un giorno una sua amica sottoposta ad un intervento cade in coma profondo e in seguito a qualche giorno di agonia muore. Susan non è convinta della versione ufficiale sulle cause del decesso e decide di indagare privatamente, scoprendo che i casi simili avvenuti negli ultimi mesi sono addirittura una dozzina e hanno seguito il medesimo modus operandi: finirà per svelare una macabra verità.
